I am running version 4.0. Since the upgrade my iPhone does not sync events back to iCal on my Macbook Pro. It does sync the other way--iCal to iPhone, but I need it to do both. I have looked in all the easy places for an answer. I must be missing something. What can I do.
MacBook Pro 15",
Mac OS X (10.6),
Canon Pro 9000 Mark II photo printer
Your iphone needs to be attached by the usb cable. Then on the left hand side under devices click on your iphone to see your iphone's menu. You should be in the summary tab the next tab over should be the info tab. I hope this helps.....
Well, after spending HOURS on the phone with Apple, we ended up fixing the iCal sync problem by restoring the phone and then re-syncing it as a NEW iPhone in iTunes. A restore on the phone is not fun because it takes all your folders away, so you have to sort your apps out again. Back up your data before doing a restore....in other words, sync your phone to iTunes and make sure all your contacts are in your address book and your appts in iCal. Hope that helps.......
I have the issue with contacts not syncing. I hate to even think it, but its almost as if they want the sync to be difficult to coax you into signing up for mobileMe. I wish apple would acknowledge issue they are working on. We all understand new software has bugs, but if they just let us know they have indentified them are a fix was forthcoming we'd be ok. its the defending silence that worries me...very MS like.
Using mobile me my MBP info sync's to my Iphone 4, but events where I've clicked the "all day" button sync 20-100 times in a single day. eg "nancy's birthday" all day event appears over 30 times on the 17th. I've reset sync data, replacing MBP info onto mobile me a few times, but eventually shut off cal sync on the iphone and "replace ical" info from computer to phone to fix it. Syncing backwards, phone to MBP was working fine (when I had setting on iphone for mobile me sync).
Same story. It's been weeks since I've been able to sync my iPhone to my laptop. I am a MobileMe user and now it's irrelevant. All my data is on my iPhone and I'm not willing to go through crazy pains to remedy this. Apple, please create a software update to fix this ASAP. Thanks!
It doesn't matter what all these fixes above say. Its broken and we need a fix. My calendar has never been so f@#$ up before. Seems pathetic that I can't get three devices to have their calendars synced.
What a horrible and disgusting quarter. Welcome to your own personal Vista, Jobs. So annoying. Just wasted 2 HOURS on this and I know know that there really is no simple fix, or possibly no fix at all.
I am having similar problems ... I get contacts syncing fine but calendar will not sync at all ... I have 3 calendars in iCal and none of them show up as selectable in itunes to sync to the iPhone.
I am new to the mac and the iPhone... and expected better than this after switching from a PC.
I have had to exchange my IPhone 4 3 times already and now this ... it is frustrating.
BTW none of the suggestions in this thread have worked for me.
I too have lost ALL my calendar info. ALL gone from new iphone 4 AND ical. This is disastrous. Can't believe they released the software with this serious of a glitch! Shame on you Apple. And to make it worse, I talked to ATT, Apple iphone support and Mobileme support for a very long time today. They had no idea this was happening. Now I know what the problem is after reading all these posts. Get your act together Apple! You are starting to look like Microsoft. bleh
Same here; Since upgrade to 4.0, iPhone 3gs suddenly wont sync with iCal even when I tell iTunes to overwrite my iPhone with the iCal on the desktop. This is one of the most important functions of my iPhone so I hope the fix is soon!!1
Finally solved this syncing weirdness. iPhone <-> MacBook Pro
*Step 0:*
Make backup of your Calendar(s), start iCal > File > Export > iCal Archive (that backups all things - recommended)
Also make sure you have a TimeMachine backup in worst-case, you never know!
*Step 1:*
Close every running program on you Mac just to be save then;
Go to System Preferences > MobileMe > Sync tab (on your Mac). Enable 'Show status in menu bar' in bottom left of the System Preferences screen. If you don't have an MobileMe account create a 'free' one.
*Step 2:*
Press the ALT key and click on the circular sync arrow icon. Press the 'Reset Sync Service' option on the bottom.
*Step 3:*
Browse on you iPhone to Settings > Mail, Accounts, Calendars and scroll to the bottom where it says Calendars. MAKE SURE YOUR STANDARD CALENDAR is the one you use on you mac! You might want to check notes as well. In my case they where both wrong.
*Step 4:*
Make appointments on you iPhone/Mac to see it they get synced.
*Step 5:*
Attach you iPhone to your Mac to do a regular sync. You might want to sync twice as mine didn't go right the first time but it now works great, finally!
There you go, hopefully this will help a lot people.
Hi, I am new to MAC and for the first time elected to sync the calendar on my new IPhone 4 to ical on my new IMAC. All my events data was on the Phone. now ALL MY DATA IS GONE ! I Do not have the calendar events anymore on my phone or on my IMAC. THe last backup in ITUNES is one where the phone calendar in now blank.
Interesting to hear that "cache cleaning" worked for you - please can you guide me ?
ALso, I do have my old 3GS phone with the events still sitting in its calendar (although this is 3 weeks historic now since i have had my Iphone 4 for 3 weeks). When I tired to sync this to Ical on a new MBP - same thing happened - all wiped ! Fortunately i had backed it up so could restore it.
I have seen in >library>Application Support>MobileSync>Backup.....that there are some previous backups other than the only one that shows up in itunes. ANyone know how i can restore one of those, as this is the most up to date calendar I have ?
PLEASE HELP > All my critical data is in my calendar and it would be great to get back the most up to date version or at the very least - be able to sync the one from 3 weeks ago.
