this is not supported by Apple

Correct.

and cannot be discussed on this forum

Where did that come from? If procedures given do NOT involve any hacking or jail breaking I don't see how this would violate the TOS.

If someone is trying to use a printer, camera, Hard Drive, etc. with their Mac that is NOT on a list of 'supported' devices, then they should not be helped?

I've just downgraded my old 3G to 3.1.3 before giving it to my girlfriend. While I was quite happy with iOS4, I did note that a few minor things were a little slower (mainly SMS), and she hammers this feature so I thought it best to hand over the device on 3.1.3.

Downgrading was incredibly easy, it's actually a fairly trivial task if you follow one of the many excellent guides. The entire thing only took about 1 hour, from first reading the article to the phone being at the "connect to itunes" screen on 3.1.3.

Just google "lifehacker iphone 3g downgrade", and you should get the same article I used.

The annoying thing is, she's now wanting to upgrade it to iOS4 herself because she wants folder. I shouldn't of even bothered downgrading it. lol.

Seriously? What planet are you on? OS 4.0 has had nothing but bad reviews since LONG before it was released. I just updated not one, but 2 3G phones with this software and they are both doing the exact SAME thing. So, honestly, unless you particularly know something the rest of the planet doesn't please, don't tell me it works fine, cause it doesn't. Every post on here about this software making phones sluggish, not responding, not performing the same are exactly correct.

Rudeness always works so well on these forums, don't you think; especially when addressed at someone as helpful as Tamara. Like a lot of people I also have a 3G iPhone which has worked fine (if a little slowly) since the upgrade. A double restart and clearing out some data worked wonders for this phone which only has 128MB RAM.

You act as if the whole world is falling apart, when some owners have problems, and some do not (the forums do not have too many postings from those who do not, of course). And of course, with your wide reading, you have tried all the suggestions? . . . .

Just to clarify you can downgrade from 4 to 3.1.3

I did it, it took about 15 mins, very easy! I actually did it withought any guides. Just used one simple programe to wake my phone out of DFU mode and the 3.1.3 software

Im not going to go into it as im not sure on the forum rules, just google it.

Im just confirming it worked without any problem. im happily on 3.1.3 again!

I have tryed on a couple of occasions to downgrade back to 3.1.3, with NO luck what-so-ever. Looking at other members posts, those who have been successful have Apple PCs, those who don't have a problem. I have Windows 7 and informed I will have problems because of my PC software, and I have had just that. Even one of "those" sites that have the downgrade tell you that those running Windows will probably have problems.
