IPhone 4 Bluetooth Issues

All, I am not sure that Apple has fixed this problem nor addressed it in the upcoming release. (I will find out shortly) That said the only advice I have is this. I have had the same problem and have had some success getting it to go away at differerent times and I have not seen this written yet so here you go.

There are many apps that I realize that use the BT headset. Dragon, Google Search, and even the voice recorder. One day I took off all apps that used my BT when connected. I did not have range, fuzzy sound, or any other problems. This lasted for several months on my i4. I started getting ready for my i4s to arrive today so I did a sync to all apps on my phone. That was yesterday, today my phone and BT disconnect again just when it is in my pocket.

I am sure thtat it is one of the apps that is somehow causing that problem. Not saying that it is not an attena problem that the app fails on or something (I am not technical) But the only fact I have is removing all of those apps made it work with no changes to the i4 or the BT headset.

I get my new phone today and will try it with all apps. IF I still have the same problem as a last ditch effort to stay on iPhone, I will remove all those apps again and add one back a week to find the culprit.

Sad to say that I was unable to get the iPhone 4S to pair with a SoundID 510 that worked well with the iPhone 4. Did not purchase the 4S for that reason among the fact that on the other Bluetooth connections in my car, the Siri prevented Voice Dialing through the Bluetooth system. Drawback 2. It seems that while the 4S might be faster, the Bluetooth connectivity and Voice Dialing through Bluetooth devices have been impaired. Going backwards in my opinion from the user friendly device to allow hands-free dialing.

I have iPhone 4S, and have been having problems with bluetooth. It keeps on searching and doesn't get paired. I had 3G working just fine with Mercedes Benz E350 and BMW 328i bluetooth. Now it keeps on searching and searching. It does not see the vehicle's device.

Anyone figured out what's going on with 4S. Apparantly it has new IOS 5, and is the latest and greatest, so why this problem persists going back to original 4 problems.

I can't connect my iphone 4 ios 5 to my ipad 2 also ios5, and i need it for using keynote. The i pad bluetooth seems fine it finds and pairs with all devices i throw at it, but the iphone can not even be discovered nor discover other bluetooth devices. Suggestions?

I'm having the same problem- the 3GS was working fine with my bluetooth speaker, and now the 4S won't pair at all. I definietly need that fixed before my week on call at the end of the month! If anyone has figured this out, I could defintiely use some help!

The iphone4 S has solved the bluetooth issue no more muffled sound and no issues. the JAWBONE ERA works perfect with the 4S and SIRI I have only been able to use the Blueant Q2 for 2 years. The Iphone 4S has upgraded to Bluetooth 4.0 which is the newest. Thank You Apple for 2 years you would not admit there was a bluetooth hardware issue with the Iphone4 That really *****!!

BOTTOM LINE JAWBONE ERA IS COMPATABLE WITH SIRI AND IPHONE4S

I'm so disappointed I just purchased the 4S and Bluetooth still doesn't work like my Razor from 8 years ago.

I can't believe that apple hasn't fixed the Bluetooth issue in the 4S.

Maybe it’s just me but I cannot get Bluetooth working on any 4+ series iPhone.

Sure it pairs fine but as soon as I put the phone in my pocket or at any distance 2’ or so I get garbled or cutting out or just lose the earpieces all together.

It’s the Phone 100% without question.

My wife and I purchased the original IPhone years ago then upgraded to the 3g and have always had perfect Bluetooth reception

In cars and with cheap ear pieces it was great I could walk around the living room while having the phone docked and charging.

Well along came the IPhone 4 with this amazing new antenna design. 🙂

Yeah amazingly poor antenna design. Other than the Bluetooth and less of a signal the phone was awesome.

So I tried and tried and tried some more to find a solution.

Both my wife’s 4 and mine could not sustain a connection if you put the phone in your pants pocket.

A Plantronics Discovery 925 or 975, Jawbone, Apple earpiece, Blue Ant Q1 or V1 all dropped or had bad reception.

Though if any of you Bluetooth sufferers are looking for something that works a little

The Blue Ants are by far the strongest signal. I can actually keep a connection if the phone is sitting on the console of my car or on the desk next to me.

I was really hoping that the 4S would address this issue but it’s more smoke and mirrors by apple.

I wish someone would just admit the problem and fix it.

Actually I don’t even care if I have to buy a $500 earpiece to fix the problem I’m just tired of buying one phone after another and everyone keeps blaming the earpiece or my case or that it’s Tuesday.

Fix it already and I’ll buy the next **** phone and make you rich but just admit the problem and move on.

Not for me. I hear a popping/cracking sound on both my ERA and my ICON HD. The Bluetooth problems (muffling, disconnects and distortion) on the iPhone 4 could be temporarily resolved with daily reboots, frequent toggling of audio inputs and resetting all settings every few weeks. So far nothing has helped with the problem I'm experiencing on the iPhone 4S. I spoke with a Jawbone rep today and he said they have been getting frequent calls from iPhone 4S owners since Friday. The 4.0 is Bluetooth in the iPhone 4 is new and may not be fully compatible with the headsets (all of them are older than the 4S). Hopefully, we'll see an iOS update or Jawbone update soon.

I do here popping/cracking which progressively gets worse the further the phone is away from the earpiece till it eventually drops all together. I've been forced into carrying the phone in my shirt pocket and wear my earpiece in

My left ear.

Not really a good place because if you bend over it can fall out.

I'm hoping for a fix in the 5 but I'm not to hopeful since they haven't even admitted a problem with the 4.

This problem never did get solved for me. I was having problems with the home button on my iPhone 4 so went down to Apple store and discussed blue tooth and home button issues. Got a new phone same model. So far no troubles with blue tooth but too early to tell for sure.

So your's sounds good and not tinny and crackley? I've got a 4S and a Jawbone Icon and I've had is drop a couple of times and sounds really bad, not clear like it use to. Not sure how it sounds to the people I'm talking with, they haven't complained yet. Maybe I need to check with Jawbone to see if they are going to post an update.

Well back to the same old problem but worse. Got a brand new iPhone 4 to replace the one that wasnt working. Now the bluetooth icon just disappears after I exit the bluetooth settings screen. I have tried a hard reset but no success. Cannot pair or use with vehicle hands free equipment in new Honda Odyssey. Wow I am having troubles with all my Apple devices. New stuff just isnt working any longer. Just frustration upon frustration.

The 4/4s is flawed this is my third phone between my wife and I and they all have the same problem.

The 4S is even worse the proximity sensor doesn't shut the display off when you put it up to your face an hour after you reboot the phone.

Right when you reboot the proximity sensor works but the next time you use it the display stays on.

I think this may be the last iphone I'm done with the lies.

I bought a new Jawbone Era and have been using it for since the 14th. I am I'm Bluetooth about 8 hours a day everyday dispatching limousines it is working perfect. The Jawbones would not work with the IPhone4 only the Blueant q2. Now it's the complete opposite with the 4s. I had over 2000 calls with the Jawbone Era and everybody says they hear me perfect.

I've also been having great success with the Jabone Era and my iPhone 4S. No problems yet after a week. No muffled sounds, disconnects or garbled voices. Range also seems to be pretty good. My apartment is pretty small, so I can't test the range to the max, but when I walk 20-25 feet away, I haven't had any issues.

Of course, time will tell how things hold up. I had no success with any BT headset I tried with my iP4. All of them resulted in garbled voice, random disconnects, etc after enough time. Hopefully the 4S and/or iOS 5 has fixed these issues once and for all.
