Switch function key behavior back to original

Somehow I was able to make F1-F12 keys behave as standard function keys without holding the Fn key.

I then realized that I had to now hit the fn key to control the volume, which is annoying.

How do I switch the behavior back? Everything I am seeing tells me to go to the Keyboard Systems Preference panel and check the box marked Select "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys". But that option has been removed in Mojave evidently.

Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

Ok, I figured it out. I had to go to the Logitech website and find the page for my keyboard K750 for Mac (a great keyboard). I downloaded the Logitech Control Center and installed it.

Then I could see the F1, F2, etc option in their software. All is right in the universe again.

It wasn't removed. If you are not using an Apple keyboard, that might be the reason the setting is missing for you.

In the Terminal, try this:

defaults write -g com.apple.keyboard.fnState 0

You may have to log out and back in.

Unfortunately that didn't work. But it sounded good. And I don't have a touch bar, so the other solution didn't work either.

And I can't get the individual reply buttons on these responses to work, for some reason.

What Mac do you have? If you still have an Apple keyboard you should be able to connect it and change the setting.

How about selecting "F1, F2, etc. Keys" in the "Touch Bar shows" menu options?

I have a new iMac, but my keyboard is the Logitech K750. Maybe I should switch keyboards so I can change the setting.
