ipad messages dual sim

I activated the dual sim capabilty yesterday with att....love the technology where i can only carry one phone...but learned today that there is a big downside...before, when i carried both phones, i was able to get text messages from both numbers on my iPad...but now with the dual sim, i can only get text messages from the default number on the dual sim phone...so essentially lose the capability to get text messages on my iPad from one of the phone numbers...somewhat disappointed, as this essentially means that i need to use both phones still to have the text messaging capability....any suggestions? ATT basically said its apple’s fault and nothing they can do....anyone have a work around idea to try?
