iCloud Drive missing from the sidebar on Mac

I have accidentally removed the iCloud Drive from the sidebar of my Mac (MacBook Pro updated to Mojave recently). How to add the iCloud Drive back in?

Open finder preferences , click on sidebar and check the box of iCloud Drive .

I've tried to log off so I can log back on, but the only way to do that seems to involve an incredibly long back up step before the machine will do so. Never mind. I finally figured it out....
