Installing new monitor profiles causing highlighting problem, High Sierra (10.13.6)

I found this report Monitors prefs pane causing highlighting problem over a year ago with no resolution.

Now I am seeing exactly the same problem after upgrading to High Sierra. I periodically create monitor profiles using Eizo's Color Navigator 6 for my Eizo CG241W monitor. As soon as the new profile is loaded almost all the text in Finder windows and some text fields in Safari are highlighted in light gray.

I have also tried using i1Profiler to create the monitor profile but with the same result. The only profile that works correctly is an old one created before upgrading to High Sierra.

Neither Eizo nor X-Rite have been particularly helpful. Pretty much the generic, "Reinstall the software" and/or make a new profile but use "these steps". The only effect is that I have now lost all my profile history on the monitor in Color Navigator. <sigh>

My current configuration is a Mac Pro 2012 tower (MacPro5,1) Sapphire Pulse Radeon GX 580, MacOS 10.13.6. I'm getting ready to upgrade to Mojave but haven't done so yet because the Eizo and X-Rite have been lagging on making their software compatible. The latest releases are now supposed to be compatible but I ran into this issue.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

This problem seems to have been due to incomplete or buggy support in the OS and/or the driver for the GX 580 card in High Sierra. Will probably never know exactly what the problem was.

Finally ended upgrading to Mojave(10.14.2) and all the problems with the highlighted text fields went away.

So if you have or want to use the Radeon RX 580 and probably the RX 680 the best bet is to move as quickly as feasible to Mojave.
