Epson Stylus Photo R1900 Driver not compatible with macOS Mojave?

I installed macOS Mojave on my mac Mini and afterwards installed my lovely Epson Stylus PhotoR1900. So it is a standard installation from scratch. The System found the right drivers in the net and automatically downloaded and installed it. Printer works but it is not possible to setup the printing definitions in the right way. In the past I had several Menu items for Print Settings, Page Layout Settings… Now everything is unsorted and without logic in a long list behind Print Settings. It looks like that the printer driver has problems to setup the UI for the config items:

…and also the logic is gone: So I can combine Printer Settings that would not make sense at all.

Here are two screenshots that explain a little bit more what I mean:

Look of an functional Printer driver on my old Mac:

How it looks like in macOS Mojave:

I also asked Epson Support. They only mentioned that it could be possible that "Apple changed something in the structure for printer drivers…"

So I updated my MacBook Pro as well and I have the same issue here…

Anyone else?

Thank you in advance, Roland

Epson has left you high and dry.

The last printer driver that Epson shows for this device in its associated device Support area was from Sept 2016, and quite bravely, Epson shows it compatible with Mojave 10.14, and High Sierra 10.13. This printer driver is over two years old, and Epson has not bothered to update it — so of course it may not be fully compatible with Mojave.

Apple is continuously changing their Library frameworks (libraries) and associated methods, some of which do get deprecated and removed — which can directly impact applications and driver code that is not maintained to current operating system compatibility. Ultimately, it is Epson's responsibility, not Apple, to maintain their printer driver code to the compatibility standards that they state on their web site. Unfortunately, your actual experience is contrary to Epson's commitment.
