SAFARI CANNOT BE OPENED BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM. check with the developer to make sure safari works with this version of OS X

So I was surfing the net last night. All of the sudden the computer stops working, well the internet. I have tried everything. I get the same message. I have no updates pending. I was not downloading anything. Please help. Why the safari not work?

The message says: Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of OS X. You might need to reinstall the application.

The Icon will not allow me to remove it. What do I DO? How do I fix this?

Please help.

There are a bunch of threads on Apple's discussion site today about this and I've had to repair the issue on 3 of my clients Macs. It appears to have been caused by the latest iTunes update for Yosemite 12.8.1 (which may have been running in the background while you were surfing the web, if you have Automatic Updates turn on)

Here's a quick and dirty way to fix it:

I just deleted (moved to trash) the following file... MobileDevice.framework

This is located at Macintosh HD/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework

Safari started up again straight away and I haven't noticed any issues since.

Macintosh HD/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework
