Shift key sticks during screen sharing

I've just upgraded my 2012 MBP to Mojave, and now when I use screen sharing to connect to a Mac on the network, if I press the shift key it gets "stuck" on the remote machine, as if I was still holding it down on the local machine. In searching the forums this seems to have popped up with previous OS versions, though this is my first time experiencing it. The other computers are on El Capitan or High Sierra. Has anyone found a solution to this?

The mouse cursor moves across the screen as I move the mouse and shrinks over the Screen Sharing screen like it is supposed to but mouse clicks and keyboard typing does not register. Any thoughts? Mojave security update 2021-004 breaks screen sharing after system has been idle After installing Mojave security update 2021-004 (on 6/5/21) there is odd behavior of both screen sharing and Microsoft Remote Desktop. Immediately after rebooting, I'm able to use screen sharing to view the screen of another Mac on my local network. I'm also able to use Microsoft RDP over VPN to connect to servers at work. However, if I leave my machine idle for a hour, or so, I can no longer make a new screen sharing connections nor can I make a new RDP connection (existing connections are OK). Hardware: MacBook Pro, 15 inch 2019, 2.3 GHz core i9, 32 GB RAM OS version: 10.14.6 Energy saver: [x] Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off Other updates installed on 6/5/21: Safari 14.1.1 OneDrive 21.083.0425 Any help would be appreciated.

Cannot share screen without disabling firewall in Ventura Hi - running the latest macOS Ventura 13.2.1 on my Mac Studio. I'm unable to get remote management or screen sharing to work without completely disabling the firewall, which I don't want to do. Tried the usual troubleshooting. Anyone else encounter this?
