I had a late 2012 Mac Mini that worked well with my Thunderbolt Display. I've calibrated the display in Mojave system preferences for my new 2018 Mac Mini, but the display quality is degraded, in two ways: font resolution and light - the small fonts that Jony Ives loves so much are blurry, and a page with a lot of text on a white background looks like it's glowing.

Did you calibrate the display on the old Mini? Do you still have the
old Mini or a full system backup of it?
If you did, you should be able to get the calibration file and put it on the new
Mini.
The file will be located in:
Library->ColorSync->Profiles->Displays
Place the file in the same location on the new computer (you'll need to
make sure to do this from an administrator account). Restart the computer
then in SystemPreferences->Display->Color, the display profile should show
up in the list.
One thing to note, any display profile will only be valid for the settings
on the display itself at the time of calibration.
