iPhone X keeps pausing on downloaded movie

I’ve downloaded movies from the TV app onto my phone to watch on the train. They play for a variable amount of time, between 3-20 minutes then the image pauses, then a second later the sound stops. The play icon indicates the movie is still playing but it has certainly paused. If you click “done” and then click back into the movie it carries on.

I’ve found another thread on this same issue with no response from Apple so I’m not holding my breath! I did do what the other thread suggested as a work around and switched off “shake to undo” in settings with no affect.

Hello Jon-hyde,

Is this isolated to one particular movie or all movie?

Have you tried deleting the movie and redownloading it?

Do you have another device you can download a movie on and test to see if it plays without issue?

Hi,

That isn’t my issue. As I said in the description above, I have completed the download of the movie and I am watching it offline. During the offline play of the movie I am experiencing the movie pause. This happens when I am fully in flight mode with the movie locally on my device.

Based on this can you suggest any root causes for this bug?

Hi,

It happens with all downloaded movies. I've tried deleting the movies and re-downloading them. I've also deleted the TV app and reinstalled it from the App Store. No joy. The movies play fine on my wife's iPhone SE and on our iPad.
