icloud sign in - 2 factor authentication

When I start up my mac air, pop up box asks for my iCloud sign in. After entering sign in info, the two factor authentication request comes to my iPhone. After I approve it on my iPhone, it generates the 6-digit code. No option appears on the mac air to enter the 6-digit code.

Two-factor identification flaw? When I log into iCloud.com on my Mac (using Safari), after my password is automatically filled out by Safari and I get a prompt to enter the 6 digit code for 2-factor identification. The problem is that Apple will actually send the code to the Mac that I am trying to sign into from. How is this more secure? Shouldn't two-factor authentication be sending the code to a device other than the one from which I'm trying to login?

Cant Finish Setting Up Two Factor Authentication I was setting up two factor authentication for my Macbook and my Iphone. It worked perfectly for the Iphone but the Icloud preferences on the Mac say that I have to finish setting it up. So I click continue. It tells me to "Enter your password and a verification code to finish setting up two-factor authentication on this Mac." so I click continue again, but nothing happens. It stays in the Icloud preferences box without showing me anything to enter my password.
