hi, I just bought my MacBook Air, and I was instructed to update the 5 default apps(pages, keynote, garage band, numbers and iMovie) but when im updating, it says there "Update unavailable with this Apple ID: this update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled". What can I do about it? thank you.

Have you setup your new MBA with your Apple ID and password? Are you signed in to the App Store with your Apple ID and password associated with the default apps provided? Apparently, the Apple ID you have on the computer differs from the one you have used to access the App Store or the one used to buy the apps originally.
You should be able to download them directly once the computer is properly set up in iCloud preferences. Use Software Update preferences to download the upgrades.
