I wanted to edit 3D video formatted as side-by-side 2560x720, but regular settings in iMovie output as regular 1280x720, halving the resolution. Is there any way to export at the full 2560x720?

I take it you are doing a split screen with the overlay split screen feature.
iMovie only exports in 16:9 aspect ratio like 1280 x 720. That can't be changed. Your 2560 x 720 clip is 32:9. I'm not sure but I am guessing that that is why you won't get a 2560 x 720 export option. I could be wrong, and I don't have any suitable clips to test, so I'll stand corrected if somebody with specific knowledge of this issue chimes in. I just wanted to get your post acknowledged.
