I cannot update Lightroom CC Classic (to v. 8.0) and have a 2011 iMac so cannot upgrade to Mohave. Is there a work-around? I've been on the phone with Apple and Adobe for a total of about 8 hours with no luck. Please help! Thanks!
Will it work in the Safe Mode of your normal user account?

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Well, something in your user's folder is amiss, I can' tell what as I don't have LR at all, but look in your user's Library>Preferences folder to start with.
I am running High Sierra 10.13.6 - Adobe says that it okay. Well.....something is going awry. Is it something with my iMac? Adobe? Apple? Please don't send me to Apple or Adobe. Been there, done that. I need something a little more creative to get around this mess.
Yes, it works in the other account. However, lower versions of LR work without switching to a new admin account.
