Optical Network Terminal - Setup Help

Hi,

We now have Fibre optic. The box supplied has an ONT function. The message it gives is - This mode allows you to use another Router to access Internet, using the Livebox only as ONT. To do this, you must connect with an Ethernet cable the WAN port of the Router with the port GE4 of the Livebox and activate in the Internet Settings of the Router the Orange Network Profile.

On my TimeCapsule, apart from selecting DHCP and NAT, what changes/data do I need to input to get it working with ONT?

Thanks

As a test, temporarily turn off the WiFi on a Mac computer and connect it directly to the ONT using an Ethernet cable.

Restart the Mac and restart the ONT if possible.

If the Mac connects to the Internet OK, then you can likely use standard DHCP and NAT settings with the Time Capsule......but.....you will really should reset the Time Capsule back to factory default settings......before.....you reconfigure it to work with the ONT, since the Time Capsule will retain too many of its previous settings and may likely not work correctly with those previous settings.

activate in the Internet Settings of the Router the Orange Network Profile.

Can you provide more information on what this "profile" might require? Some fibre providers require a PPPoE type of authentication to connect to a network, for example.
