Do I need to check "Create Optimized media" and "Create Proxy media" when working with HD footage H264 .mov
Same question when using footage coming from the RED camera. (not sure what format this is called)

You don't need optimized in most cases. Whether you need proxy depends on your system and drive capabilities. These files can be generated after importing. It really does not need too be done during the import process.

Thank you Tom. That s helpful. It s creating huge files and i'm running out of external drive. I have another question. For the red camera footage I could only check PROXY?
Quite a number of formats are already in an optimized form and can’t improve playback through optimization.
