According to some Twitter users, there are reported Apple iOS 12.1.2 update problems that could reportedly affect your cellular data service. Because this issue manifests itself when your iPhone with iOS 12.1.2 is connected to a carrier’s LTE network, limiting the device to use LTE for data but not voice should fix this for you.
1) Open the Settings app.
2) Tap Cellular or Mobile Data.
3) Be sure that the Cellular Data toggle has been switched to the ON position.
4) Tap Wi-Fi Calling, then disable the feature.
5) Go back, then choose Cellular Data options from the list.
6) Tap Enable 4G, then choose the option labeled Data Only.
Hi, wondering if anyone has seen any updates to this, or has new information. I hope to get to the Apple store within the next couple of days and may also have more info then.
I was able to successfully downgrade to 12.1.1, but that did not solve the issue. I am still only able to get cell service intermittently at best.
for me also suggested as hardware problem. I was expected. So what's up next ???

My issue is not resolved as of yet. I have to coordinate to make a 2! hour drive to the nearest Apple Store. I want to present this to them as my phone appears to qualify.

As a side note, I have had zero issues previously with this phone. I also check the battery regularly with apples battery check as well as third party apps. Today, for the first time, the third party app (battery life) shows my battery as completely dead and in need of replacement. As of only a couple days ago it showed consistently 88% on wear level. Not sure if this is related too.
Yes, my Problem was diagnosed as hardware issue as well.. so they are going to see what the problem is and if it cannot be fixed, the device will Be replaced.. however that doesn’t help anyone with the same issue who doesn’t have a warranty on their devices
I have the A1660 (iPhone 7) US model. I’m expecting to get my original phone back with the new cellular modem installed, however they did say it’s possible I will receive a full replacement. I won’t be sure until the work is completed.
There is actually now an update IOS 12.1.3..... however with the trouble I had with the previous version 12.1.2 update, I am not risking the update on my new phone.. I’ll stick with what’s working for it now
Quick update. I sent my phone to Apple through an Authorized Service Center. It took about a week to complete the process, and in the end, Apple sent me a new phone. Everything was the same, color, size, etc. The phone works great again and is only a month old. Unfortunately, even though the phone is new, it doesn't extend the warranty, however the repair program clearly stated that. All in all, I'm very happy in the end the way my repair was handled. There was no cost to me, and having the new phone should extend the overall life. For anyone in Northern Germany, I would highly recommend the Service Center I used. Great service, timely turn around, and quality work. mac-freestyle in Kiel.
