According to some Twitter users, there are reported Apple iOS 12.1.2 update problems that could reportedly affect your cellular data service. Because this issue manifests itself when your iPhone with iOS 12.1.2 is connected to a carrier’s LTE network, limiting the device to use LTE for data but not voice should fix this for you.
1) Open the Settings app.
2) Tap Cellular or Mobile Data.
3) Be sure that the Cellular Data toggle has been switched to the ON position.
4) Tap Wi-Fi Calling, then disable the feature.
5) Go back, then choose Cellular Data options from the list.
6) Tap Enable 4G, then choose the option labeled Data Only.
Can u please share the letter received from apple team (as mentioned "so it was the operating system causing the issue they explained in a letter sent with the new device"). I want to my phone to be replaced with this letter.
Very frustrated with the upgrade to ios 12. Have a iphone 7 with touch screen issues after the update (the screen is not original, i live in Argentina, no official support here). My wife (iphone 7 plus) has no service issue since last night. I using my old Iphone SE instead, upgraded to IOS 12.1.2 works fine for now.

Which carrier do you use? And do they use CDMA or GSM (I would guess GSM).
Just curious - in the USA (where I am) SIMs for a GSM carrier (T-Mobile) give No Service to my iPhone SE but SIMs for Verizon (CDMA) carrier DO give service on that same phone!
If you review other people's posts like yours, I do NOT see anyone mentioning the carrier they use - that might make a difference if we knew!
My carrier is Movistar. My wife´s carrier is Telecom Personal. I Put my sim card on my wife's phone with the same result (no service). in my Iphone SE both SIMs works fine.
Iphone SE is the best, but I need a bigger screen...
I have the same issue, but mine is iPhone 6S Plus.
Somebody messed up something with the update. Guess next time I will stick with a stable version.

Yeah great, but still the issue not resolved mine. I've changed the sim and tried also its not working.

I also have this issue. My service seems to be intermittent, mostly not working.

I called Apple Support and was unable to resolve. They didn’t acknowledge any potential problem with the updated software.
