How to play sound through mac (eg YouTube) whilst using logic pro

Hi,

I have a setup with logic pro, and the guitar going in through a Pod and Line 6 UX2 interface.

When I use logic pro it turns off ask other sounds. Is there a way for the laptop to play all audio through the monitors at the same time? I want to run YouTube/iTunes and play along with backing tracks, I don't need logic to import it or record it, this is just for live playing, but there is no audio coming from anything other than logic.

Can anyone help? Cheers :)

Hi, yes it's possible. Logic can be set to use a different audio interface than macOS is using to output audio. In your case it's Line 6 UX2. So you just have to set macOS to output audio through this interface (and not the built-in one). You may do so in System Preferences > Sound or, better, click the speaker icon in the upper-right corner of the screen while holding Option key (see below) > select Line 6 UX2 (or whatever option that represents this interface) from the list of available outputs.

You may quickly switch inputs this way as well. Just keep in mind that this only affects operating system and apps which rely on system audio settings, not necessarily the DAW that you're currently using.
