4k H.265 video not playing back well on 2016 Macbook Pro

I just got the Fujifilm XT3. It records 10 bit 4k 60fps video at 400mb/second. It is only able to record video at this quality using the h.265 codec. When I get the footage off of my SD card, the video is choppy, and does not play back well. I can transcode the video to h.264, and it plays back perfect. When I record with h.2.64 on my camera, the video plays back perfect as well. It's my understanding that h.265 video playback is supported by Mac OS. I am completely up to date in software as well. I am running Mac Os Mojave 10.14.2. Any suggestions on what to do? Just a really annoying problem!
