Swimming with Apple Watch Series 3

Hey everybody! Thanks in advance for your help!

When swimming with the series 3, the screen locks to avoid the water activating the touchscreen. Is there anyway to make the screen lock AND stay active? Currently the screen times out and goes black while I’m swimming. Is there anyway to make sure the screen stays on for the course of the workout? I’m used to using other swim watches where I can glance down at my splits while I’m swimming without touching a button...
