When using my iOS device safari I get the error message “An unexpected error had occurred. Please try again later.” When I try to purchase or rent Google Play movies. I tried requesting desktop site and the same issue.
You'll have to take that up with Google.

I spoken to Apple and was directed to reset my network settings and it worked! I can now purchase google play movies.
