Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter is not working

Hello!

I just got my new Macbook Pro 13" and got two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter to connect my external displays. Reason why I got this adaptor is, because i used the MiniDisplay port in my previous laptop to connect to two external displays and I had all the cables and adaptors required for the same.

However the adaptor is not picking up when the display is connected. I have tried connecting the above adaptor directly to the HDMI port using a MiniDisplay to HDMI cable, but no luck.

Appreciate if someone can shed some light on this situ.
