Sorry, but Canada doesn't need news, I guess. See -->Read the latest headlines in the Apple News app - Apple Support
I don't know why; I do know that Apple has news bureaux in the countries mentioned in this article. Unlike some other content providers, Apple's news stories are curated by real live human beings.
I thought that might be the answer; however I just checked my husbands iPhone and he has a Canadian phone no but he DOES get the Apple News. Our iPhones have identical settings. The mystery continues. I wonder why it isn't included in Apple Apps.
Another grasp at those straws, but have you done a force restart on the iPhone?
Tap and hold the Home button, and the On/Off button until the the screen goes black and the Apple logo reappears. Then again try setting your Region to US.
Are both iPhones with the same cellular provider?
But that doesn’t explain why my iPad is able to receive it?
No, that doesn't explain it.
On the iPad, check: Settings - General - Language & Region - Region = ???
If set to US, it will show the News App.
But my iPad DOES get it ( settings region - Canada) but iPhone doesn't get it.
Hmmm, strange indeed! On both my iPad and my iPhone, the News App appeared when I switched my Region from Canada to the US. In both cases it disappeared when switching back to Canada.
I have tried repeatedly changing region to U S on phone but no luck. Surprisingly on my iPad the region is set at Canada and it works. Go figure!
Probably because you have a Canadian phone number.
The mystery continues indeed. Were both iPhones purchased locally? (I’m grasping at straws now).
Compare the model numbers at: Settings - General - About - Model = ???
Just checked both model nos and looked up. Both are Canadian. Indeed, mystery continues.
Just did force restart on phone - no change. Both phones are with same provider. Still also doesn't explain why my iPad gets it - and with region set as Canada.
A thought just occurred to me - have you checked to see if the app is actually on your phone already? It's part of iOS when you update.
Checked and not there. Thanks for hanging in there and suggesting different things. Appreciated. Would love to hear from Apple about this. Have a good day.
