Has anyone had their iMac screen do THIS when you attempt to wake it up? Happens almost every time and before appearing like this, it takes quite a few keyboard buttons and mouse clicks to wake. This computer is only a couple of months old? I change my desktop picture to a solid background.. didn't help...

Try restarting in Safe Mode, if you have not done this before then please click https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262 and follow the steps. Then re-start normally, re-try the suggestion posted by Old Toad and test.

Yes my computer both wakes up and powers on slower than my previous iMac, which is super frustrating, I think the Apple guy said that might be fixed with the clean wipe... we will see. Basically every Apple computer I’ve ever owned or had at work wakes up WAY faster, and my iMac has a pretty fast SSD.... very frustrating.
I’m running whatever the latest release of Mojave is. Yes I cannot actually recall when my computer starting have the weird color issues on wake....
Interesting. Well, I guess it's better to be a software than hardware issue. Very frustrating. Aside from the screen looking like we're high on shrooms (haha), do you. have trouble waking your computer? Like it takes 1-2 minutes of clicking the mouse and keyboard buttons...?
I wonder if it will correct itself after and OS update. Are you running 10.14.2? Wish I'd realized exactly WHEN it started, like after a specific update to the OS...
Welp.... looks like the full wipe and reset did NOT work. I didn’t have my phone to take picture with first overnight wake, but it looked HORRIBLE gray clouds looking like on my screen. Here is the second overnight wake (should also be noted my computer doesn’t wake now with mouse or keyboard click- have to use iMac power button)....
Quick mini update: wiping computer didn’t do anything (as you can see in images above). As instructed by original Genius Bar person, I called apple care help on phone and they have said other people are having somewhat similar issues as me (“but not exactly the same, it’s an ongoing investigation for apple”). They now have settled on replacing the logicboard. I am taking it in today to get that done. Once I get my computer back I’ll let you know if it resolves the issue, fingers crossed!!!
Yay! please let me know if that works. I'll take mine in too. It's a work computer but I have a backup laptop. I have AppleCare also. Please remember to let me know if the logic board replacement works! I have had more issues with this iMac and laptop than any PC in my house. Grrrrr!!!!
Update.... got my computer back, they put in a new logic board, and it does NOT appear to have fixed the issue.... when computer wakes from sleep it still has the snowy screen, then after 5-10 seconds it goes back to normal. Attaching pic.
No, that wasn't it. This only happens when my computer goes to sleep and I attempt to wake it. Once this happens and I give the mouse a few clicks, it returns to normal... ??? Crazy!!
Yes this has happened to me, taking it to Apple Genius Bar tonight, I'll let you know what they say.

I'm having the same issue. New imac, every time I let the computer go to sleep (or even if i put it in sleep), it looks like this when I return. Anyone have any other thoughts?
Same thing here. 2018 iMac running the latest. I’ve also seen the archive folder upon boot up several times. It seems to be getting worse. Going to bring it in.
