iMac screen colors inverted... ???

Has anyone had their iMac screen do THIS when you attempt to wake it up? Happens almost every time and before appearing like this, it takes quite a few keyboard buttons and mouse clicks to wake. This computer is only a couple of months old? I change my desktop picture to a solid background.. didn't help...

Inverted colors and distorted image on imac wake up Hello! I keep on experiencing an issue when my imac wakes up from sleep mode: the screen has the colors inverted and there are very few colors (something that reminds me of VGA screens) - see the photo below. After few seconds it comes back to normal. I have also noticed that it wakes up by itself, without a touch on the mouse or keyboard and also without anybody moving around the desk. When it wakes up the screen appear with the same issue and after few seconds it goes to sleep all by itself. Has anybody encountered someting like this? This issue occured few weeks ago and I don't know if it could be linked with the fact that I have added 8gb RAM more back in april. It looks more like a software problem rather than hardware... Thank you!

Screen wakeup overnight distorted and very brig I seem to have noticed a problem.. I had a couple of night tough sleep this week, i happened to walk past the office and on 2 occasions i saw the imac with the screen brightness seemingly full and the login screen colours all distorted and maybe inverted, i'm unsure how to explain it. When i touched the keyboard it reset to standard and all was good... But its a bit alarming.. Late 2017 iMac Any ideas what it could be? Regards Dan

iMac potential graphics issue I have noticed my iMac screen locks on the attached distorted screen. It seems to happen when the mac is left unused, before the screensaver should kick in. This is an intermittent fault. The screen will stay on like this indefinitely (so the screensaver and sleep mode is not kicking in) but the screen returns to normal if I press escape. Has anyone experienced similar or recognise what the issue may be?

Okay so they ran a graphics card diagnostics and hardware diagnostics test and everything came back fine. They are wiping my entire computer and reinstalling Mojave (computer was new in 2017). And the apple guy showed me some of his Genius Bar info that various other people having same issue and it’s an ongoing issue Apple is trying to resolve, only having to do with the software. I asked the guy if I could take a picture of the literature he was referring to so you could have the exact words, but he said no. I will have to put everything back on my computer with time machine, but I have no idea if this will resolve any issues. Apple guy didn’t seem to have an answer for me when I asked what the next steps are.... maybe we just have to wait til Apple comes up with a software fix. Sorry if this wasn’t helpful.

Don’t worry I wrote a post-it note down to let you know when I get computer back! Should also note that when I was talking on phone with apple folks, they were not allowed to look at these discussions when I kept trying to refer to my picture proof, and your picture proof (legal reasons). But the person did email me a link to allow me to upload my own personal proof pics to send to their database while on the call.

So, two things, if you take computer into apple store for Genius Bar, have proof but maybe also have this web browser/discussion on your phone so you can point out it’s happening to others. And if you call apple care, ask them for a link to send your own pics as proof.

Also have this type issue more often when iMac wakes up... notice the orange folders and the iTunes song selection bar... after a few seconds it goes to normal colors...
