Opera browser and phishing / virus alert

I downloaded PFDMacMaster in the process of signing up for Scientific American online magazine. Then I got this alert of viruses supposedly from Apple. It looked like a phishing attempt, so I did not follow the instructions but backed out of it. Then I saw that I had somehow been given another browser Opera which I hadn't requested. What should I do? Attached are relevant screenshots.

If the page reloads, force quit Safari (command - option/alt - esc) and reopen with the shift key held down. If that doesn't work, disconnect from the Internet, go to Safari/History and delete the website. Quit and reopen with the shift key held down. Then reconnect to the Internet.

It's just a scam web page.

Close the window and move on.
