Mac Mini 2018 10Gb ethernet in normal home network - probklems ?

I plan to order the 10Gb upgrade option for the new MacMini 2018. It will be used in a normal home network, with everything connected via unmonitored D-Link 10/100/1000 switches. So only 1 Gb connection at the time, but as 10Gb becomes more available, I plan to upgrade the switches too.

So the question that I have is : since the 10Gb ethernet card in the Mini only supports 1 Gb or up, will I run into problems if I want to connect to a 100Mb device (web cam) that is connected to another port of the D-Link switch ?

I assume it will still work, as the switch should handle this 1Gb <-> 100Mb connection, or ?

The Mini should only see the 1 Gb link to the switch. Or is there a problem with the data rates etc..

Thanks for any suggestion.

Thanks, I have read the article before.

The problem is that it first states "This port supports 1Gb, 2.5Gb, 5Gb, and 10Gb Ethernet using RJ-45 connectors", without mentioning 100Mb !

Then, only in the "type of cable" section it listed 100Mb as supported.

Would be nice if the article is clearer about this.

Anyhow, I am pretty sure that the 1Gb switch in between will ensure the proper data transfer, as the MacMini will only see the 1Gb link to to the switch, not the 100Mb connection to the web cam. The rest should be handled via the TCP protocol. Not entirely sure about UDP. But I guess I will give it a try.
