“Keep folder organisation” in Photos but still photos are shuffled inside folder
I'm attempting to import 800 scanned slides of my father's into Photo on my MacBook Pro and then I will sync it with my iPad and iPhone.
In order that I don’t just get a huge random batch of photos, I am first of all sorting them into folders by year, according to the box they came from. It ranges from 1958 to 1974. I have even arranged them within the folders, in some approximation of the order in which they were taken, by using the file numbers. I'm trying to make it as easy as possible for my dad to enjoy these.
Here's my current issue. Although as I import each folder and check the box “keep folder organisation”, and Photos does indeed make a folder to put them in, the photos in the folder are totally randomised! Why is this? And how can I make photos keep all my hard organisation work?
Is it because Photos is totally obsessed with the “date” in the metadata of each photo? Obviously the person scanning the slides just did things randomly from within each box.
If this is the case then how can I simply override it?
I have to say that iPhoto was a much better tool for organising photos. Photos seems he’ll bent on randomising everything especially when it syncs across to my other devices. And as for “people” with adding faces.....well let’s not even go there.
I'm running a MacBook Pro Retina with High Sierra. And an iPad Pro running 12.1.1
