Apple account on hold

I received e mail to say problem. As my daughters do this for me as I am a pensioner I was waiting for them to return from vacation.

I now received another one saying my account has been placed on suspended and given me 3 working days to answer. The girls are not due back until 11th January. I didn’t know if this was a scam? Please help

It's a phishing email, iTunes/Apple don't send emails about accounts being locked or disabled except in reply, and accounts don't get 'suspended' - you could forward it to Apple : reportphishing@apple.com , and then delete it.

Apple will always address you by your name or the name they have on file for you, not Dear Customer, Dear Client or by using your e-mail address.  The e-mail will be from @apple.com or @iTunes.com. E-mail addresses can be spoofed. You can go to Mail/View/Message/Show all Headers to see more. Apple e-mails will never contain an attachment. Apple will never request personal information such as Social Security numbers.

The only exception to the above I have noticed is if you order something from the Apple Store (apple.com), your receipt will be addressed to Dear Apple Customer. That is a receipt for a purchase you initiated.
