Putting border around cropped frames?

I've cropped a number of images, placed them on a 4K timeline. I want to add slim borders to the frames so they stand out. FCPX's 'Simple Border' doesn't seem to do anything ... no border at all. Wonder if this is because of the cropping?

How might I achieve this effect? Just a 'simple border' on frames/clips that have been cropped and added to the timeline?

If that doesn't work (and I don't think it will), try this:

http://fcpxtemplates.com/share/2019/sc-simpleBorder.zip

You will be able to crop, pan and scale the clip. There is an onscreen control for positioning (as well as the published parameters), size and color the border. Please let me know when you download it or if you decide to pass on it. Also, if you do download it, let me know if it works (Motion has a bug whereby it automatically turns *off* cropping controls occasionally.)

For cropping controls, the sliders only go to 200. Click and drag (up/down) on the numerical values to get higher values.

fox_m!!

It works beautifully! Thank you. So simple. So effective. Love it. Is there anywhere on your site one could make a donation? If not, and you just happen to have any issues with ADHD or sleep deprivation or inability to focus for long periods of time ... I made this years ago and it has worked for hundreds of folk, from therapists to night shift nurses to back hoe operators ... It's a free download. www.soundtosleep.com

All the best. Great plug-in!

Select the clip to have the border in the Timeline.

Call up the Simple Border in the Effects Browser and move the cursor over it.

If all is working correctly the Simple Border icon will change to reflect the clip:

Double click the icon and the Simple Border will be added to the Selected clip.

You will have controls in the Inspector to do any fine tuning:
