Im on the 10.8.5 operating system. When I try to update to macOS Mojave, I get a prompt saying I need to have my billing information before I can download the update. The next prompt says I need the latest version of macOS to update payment info.

Help!

Try updating the payment information on appleid.apple.com

If that doesn't allow you to install Mojave, try upgrading to El Capitan, first: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206886
