Updating Catch 22

I am trying to update my operating system to Mac OS Mojave. The app store will not allow me to do this until I have updated my billing info. I cannot update my billing info without first updating my operating system. Is there a way out of this catch 22?

When I click the Billing info button, it says I have to update my OS in order to update my billing information. Im on the 10.8.5 operating system. When I try to update to macOS Mojave, I get a prompt saying I need to have my billing information before I can download the update. The next prompt says I need the latest version of macOS to update payment info. Help!

frustrating HIGH SIERRA, help, thanks Good afternoon everyone,I go to my apple login, says I can upgrade free to High Sierra, so I download, computer restarts, then the upper right says update, I click on it, then says I have to update OS to update my billing info, WHAT A CONTRADICTION !that's why I'm updating in the first place, since I need the new OS to update my billing info, and I'm on 10.8.5The download disappears ?, help please, thank you.

sure you can Change or remove your Apple ID payment information - Apple Support
