I watch 3 screen exploded when charging

Hi Apple,

I got married in August last year and my wife bought me an Apple Watch 3 as a wedding gift as I’m a huge apple fan. Great watch as it replaced my Fitbit for the gym and more. However on my most recent charge we heard a small pop and a found the screen on my watch had splintered, when I picked it up it was very very hot so I plugged out the charger. I am going to call into my local apple store tomorrow but wanted to check what’s happened here as I’ve never seen anything like it. It looks to have blown outward from near the toggle dial. Anyone else have this fault?

It doesn't look like it exploded to me since the screen is still intact. If this occurred while charging and it was very hot it could be a defective battery that was swollen and pushed the screen out but as you have already been advised only Apple can make an official determination. Make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store or click on the Contact Support link at the top right of this page. Do not do any exploration of the Watch on your own.

Your photo is not too clear, but it is obvious your screen is broken. Damage like that needs hands on inspection by Apple to make a proper diagnosis so your plan to hit the Apple Store is a good start.

Yes. Apparently this has happened with the watches.

Hope you can get it replaced or fixed at no cost

There’s splinters of glass missing from where it blew beside the toggle? The shape of the screen would indicate it blew out the way.
