Computer does not enter sleep mode properly

My Mac is supposed to be in sleep mode after 15 minutes. After the latest update of Mojave, i will approach the computer and see that it is not in sleep mode, but is stuck on the log in screen and the colors are all contorted and with a weird color scheme with a lot of baby blue and pink colors.

When I activate the keyboard or trackpad, the computer changes to the normal color scheme for the sign on screen.

Something is preventing the computer from actually going to sleep or low-power mode.

Not sure how to proceed with your recommendations nor do I understand what you're suggesting- looks them same to my attachment above.

Unless something stands out here, there seems to be a problem with an application that has changed the sign-out, sleep and other schedules and this has not always been the case, perhaps some malware...

I have captured the screen of my original question, my computer is supposed to be sleeping and yet it is sitting on this messed up lock screen instead-

There are 2 ways to look what is going on

1 use Terminal app located in your Utility folder and copy paste this command

pmset -g assertions

It should display what is keepng it from going to sleep

2 In Activity Monitor right click on on empty space in the coulomb bar and add the "Preventing Sleep" to it to see

You are correct wrt IODisplayWrangler it is normal.

So you do not see anything preventing it from shutting down the display and go to sleep mode ?

If you know how to use the Console let me know so we can do something there

IODisplayWrangler is the only thing showing for solution #1. This appears to be a normal operation for the screen dimming. Option #2 looks normal as well.

Thank you. I am not detecting any issues with the sleep/wake operation, it is more about the the weird screen colors and behavior when trying to sleep.
