where can i find a shop that will fix my sons iphone 3gs cracked screen?

My son is 8 and loves collecting old phones. All he wanted from Santa this year was an iPhone 3GS which he was over the moon with. Prob is that I have accidentally cracked the screen today and he is obviously distraught. Any ideas where I could get it fixed? Apple don’t seem to want to know as it’s so old. Thank you

fixit.com has iPhone 3Gs displays for $19.99. Those will be used/salvaged displays from recycled devices, but fixit does test and warranty their used parts. They also have detailed videos of how to replace that display, or you could find an independent shop if you don't wish to do it yourself.

They also sell the glass front panel for the 3Gs for $9.99.

The thing that is hard to find and expensive is the digitizer. But if all you need on that 3Gs is a new front glass, that should be no problem at a third party shop.

The original iPhone display is quite expensive and may be hard to find. But working used displays for the 3, 3Gs and up are readily available and not very expensive.

And the newer devices use factory laminated displays where the glass, LCD or OLED panel, and digitizer are all one integrated unit. But the advantage in your case now is that those first couple of generations of iPhone used displays that were separable components.

I cannot comment on any of them of course, but a simple google search with "bradford uk iphone 3gs screen glass repair" turned up several hits that offer to do it, including "iTechnician" which is apparently "a network of likeminded iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac and Apple Watch repairers covering England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales" - so independent private party repairers.

Hopefully someone with direct knowledge of some of them will post back, but it certainly seems like you should be able to find someone with a good reputation to repair it for you. If it's as low cost as it seems just glass replacement should be, then it could restore it as a nice collectable.

To get an iPhone that old fixed would be extremely expensive as it is an antique model. I have one myself and have a large crack in the screen. I have never bothered to try to replacing it as the prices are extremely unreasonable. But to get it fixed I would recomend going to a local pawn shop or antiques store but these are unlikely to be Apple certified.

Good luck

Thank you for all your replies. He is absolutely devastated it’s cracked as it was literally all he wanted so id really like to fix it if possible but i undersatand now that it’s so old so isn’t worth it money wise. I’m located in Bradford, West Yorkshire. Maybe if I can’t fix it, I’ll have to ‘secretly’ swap it 😂 thank you
