Dongle Adapter Issue

I have been having issues with my adapter, mainly because the charger section works and the headphone jack does not. I was listening to music and suddenly it switched from my headphones to the iPhone speakers. As soon as the headphones stopped, I made sure to test the charger as well and that still works perfectly. It does not matter how I plug the headphones in, or how many times I try to clean the dongle, they still won’t work. Any advice?
