Songs playing backwards, skipping/stopping/going back several songs?

When I found my dongle for aux to lightning, I was pretty happy and started listing to my music with it on my iPhone 7. After a bit into a song iTunes would end up playing the song at times two speed, play it in reverse, skip ahead or back in the playlist, stop the song, and the remote on my earbuds wouldn’t do anything. My earbuds are fine as I have used them with my iPhone 4 for half a year since I misplaced my dongle. Do I need to get a new dongle? Or is there something else I have to do? Anyone else having this problem?

Hello Bonogoblin,

Thanks for reaching out in the Apple Support Communities. I know how important it is to be able to enjoy your music. Glad to hear that you found the 3.5mm to Lightning adapter so you can use your earphones again with your iPhone 7. Since most of the issues you’ve described are playback related, I’d begin by restarting your iPhone following these steps: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you’re still having the same issues after restarting your iPhone, unplug the adapter and see what happens when playing through the speakers. If there is no issue with the music coming from the internal speakers, follow the steps under, “Check for debris, damage, or loose connections,” in this article: If your headphones don't work with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Let us know the results, and have a great day!
