Blocked number for two different devices sharing same apple id

I have 2 different iPhone X’s currently on my plan. One device is signed into one Apple ID, the one is just using that same Apple ID for text/iMessages ONLY (it has a different Apple ID for the actual phone account) if I block an iPhone number from the device that just uses the Apple ID for messaging will it block the contact from being able to iMessage on both devices?
