Real Player can't play file with my version of QuickTime

Every time I try to play a file on my MacBookPro (MacOS Mojave), I get this message "Real Player cannot play this media file with the installed version of QuickTime (error -50)." I have tried installing QuickTime again, but I keep getting the same message. What can I do? Is there some better version of QuickTime that I am not finding?

Macbook (2015 or later)

Hey kidclutch,

Thanks for reaching out via Apple Support Communities. I can see that you're having issues with playing a file on your Mac with QuickTime. I can understand how inconvenient this can be and I have some info that may help. Take a look at this resource here to learn about what options you may have to help with this.
