Calendar events created from apple mail is missing email reference

When an Apple Calendar event is created from a time/date appearing in an email message (Apple Mail) (I am using MacOs 10.14.2) I do not get a email message reference (URL) in the created event. My problem is that I would like to be able to go back to the email straight from the event. This used to work fine and a link to the original email message was always included when I created events from inside emails. For some reason this stopped working (long ago now, on OSX ). Any help would be most appreciated!

Turns out that my default calendar I am using in the Calendar app is a calendar on an Exchange server that does not (is not configured to?) support the URL-field. When switching default calendar in the Calendar app's preferences to e.g. a google calendar, all works just fine and a link to the individual email that the calendar event is created from is automatically added under URL in the event.
