DELL display with Mac Mini - bad resolution

Hello. I use both a Mac Mini (late 2012) and a Macbook Pro (mid-2015). I bought a 27 inch monitor (DELL P2719H) and connected it to my two computers with a mini display display cable. The resolution is very bad, although it theoretically has 1920x1080 px resolution. Last year - at a different location - I had connected a DELL 24 inch monitor with a mini display display cable and it worked very well back then. Does anyone have an idea if there is another solution? Thank you.

What’s exactly wrong with the resolution? Have you checked the display settings (System Preferences)? If they’re alright, power cycle both the monitor and the Mini (pull cables out power outlet). If neither work, try swapping the cable. Preferably with new, less than 3 feet (1m) and one that says certified.

This is a vague response but pending something better…

I recall reading something about some change you can make to font smoothing for bad font resolution with third party monitors under Mojave. Maybe doing a general web search might yield a suggestion.
