How to connect a 30-inch, Apple Cinema Display to a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports)

I have a hyper drive adaptor that i need to connect almost anything to my computer so i tried to connect the Apple Cinema Display via a DVI - HDMI adaptor. The reason i didn't get the mini display port adaptor is because the hyper drive comes with hdmi.

The display seem to respond to the connection but will not display any image. I tried to plug, unplug, restart, change resolution... everything. Do you know if there is a way to make this work or do i need to buy other adaptor?

Please note that the DVI plug from the monitor has three 8 pin rows plus one bigger pin.

Thanks!

MacBook Pro Retina (2015 and later)

The 30" display needs dual-link DVI. There are no HDMI to dual-link DVI adapters. There are some that use dual-link DVI connectors but they are only single-link.

You need a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort adapter

to use with a Mini DisplayPort to dual-link DVI adapter (don't forget to plug in its USB cable).

(Many USB-C to Mini DisplayPort adapters don't support DVI adapters. The one I linked says it does support them.)
