Any way to restore cover flow? Even partially?

I've been using this Mojave update for weeks now, and it drives me mad. Not only it's slow, full of glitches and bugs, it's also a massive regression regarding browsing files, which slows me down in my professional activities.

Is there any way to restore the previously fast and handy cover flow (and its sorting options) or the only way is to switch back to prev versions?

Mojave works fine for most users.

There is probably a software conflict on your mac.

If you want to look deeper into it, I recommend you run the diagnostic tool Etrecheck and post its report here so we can have some information on what may be wrong.

Regarding coverflow: it was replaced with "gallery". If that does not suit your workflow, you may consider installing PathFinder, which I believe has coverflow (I haven't used PathFinder in some years, so this is what I gather from comments here in this forum).

thx, I'll try the PathFinder... pitty you need custom app to have same as before.

This gallery thingy is useless for large projects.

As about speed, colleagues report exact same probs on 2 other machines.

If you take a snapshot for instance, takes ages before its done, and listing is updated seconds later.

Even the display of a selected file is slower than before.

Once files are loaded in different apps/contexts, then speed is as before, so its really a finder issue, not the mac itself.

You may notice that if you take a screenshot (command-shift-3 or -4), a small thumbnail appears at the bottom right. You can click on it and make edits. If you don't want that, you can restore the imediacy of saving the screenshots: press command-shift-5, and notice all the options you have. You can uncheck "Show Floating Thumbnail" if you like. I find it extremely useful as I only rarely want the screenshot as it is; adding markup is now a much quicker process: click the thumbnail and edit away.
