Using Macbook Air keyboard for International Phonetic Alphabet

Hello,

I am teaching a diction course for singers and need to be able to type using the international phonetic alphabet. I am sure there is a way to get my keyboard to do this, but so far have not worked it out. the IPA is not under 'symbols'. When I went into my keyboard under 'system preferences' there was no 'international' option listed. I also looked under apps- but with no success. Please Help!

Thanks

MacBook Air (2018 or later)

You can find ipa in the Character Viewer (Edit > Emoji and Symbols) by clicking on the gear wheel at top left and selecting Customize and checking the box for Phonetic Alphabet.

Other ways are
