Hi, thanks for the response.

I have an app that frees up ram however it makes no difference. Even with plenty of free memory its still slow and laggey.

I understand the computor is getting old, it already has the maximum amount of RAM (16gb)

What I dont understand is that the compitor used to handle this just fine.

The RAW images are stored on the internal hard drive. which has two partitions. (Mac OS Extended Journaled)

Memory always stays within the green area.

Booting into safe mode the issue is much worse if i try to edit a photo i imediatly get a beach ball which persists for a long period of time.

I dont have any third party editors, any suggestions.

The RAW files are around 7.5 MB.

The Camera is a Nikon D80.

The hard drive is is partitioned into two parts both 500GB

The partition the photos are stored on has around 170Gb of space available and is the boot volume.
