iPhone X in water wires earphone not working

I put my iPhone X into water by accident and only the bottom centimeter went in. When I used it afterwards it was fine and everything was working, I also used it this morning and it was working fine, I could listen to music through the earphones fine. However, wen I tried using it with the earphones it wasn’t working. I’ve tried the earphones with another phone and they worked perfectly fine. I don’t know what’s wrong I just don’t really want to spend alotnof money to fix it. Any help would be great! Thank u x
