To expand on Ruskes answer - on your phone, go to Settings and then at the top where it says "Apple ID, iCloud ..." click that and make iCloud active for Contacts. Then go to your Mac and launch System Preferences, select iCloud. Sign in and select iCloud & contacts. They should sync.
